Caring for your cut flowers

Caring for your fresh cut flowers:

The best thing to remember when caring for your fresh cut flowers is to simply change the water every day.  Luke warm water is the best except for bulbs (tulips, daffodils, etc.) which do better in cold water.  Another way to help keep them fresh is to make your own preservative.  The Brooklyn Botanical Garden has a great recipe for home-made preservative that we have repurposed below:

Homemade Flower Preservative:

1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon household bleach
2 teaspoons lemon or lime juice
1 quart lukewarm water
